Yellow Dog

"I would rate Yellow Dog 5/5. I would recommend it to people who like dogs and cats. I really loved the book and Yellow Dog’s Cree or native name. I find it creative because his name means Yellow One in English and in Cree or native it was Acimosis. I learned a lot about dog sledding. I knew that it was a mode of transport back when there were no cars but horse were also a mode of transport just like dogs."

"I found this book very interesting. It is about a boy who gets into doing a very bad dare which actually changed his whole life, and made him a better person. This is probably on the longer side of the Red Cedars this year, although it is so far one of my favourite Red Cedars. I would rate it a ⅘ because the author put so much detail in it. I didn’t like how the boy pulls the dog’s tail as a dare but I liked how the boy felt bad and cared for the dog for quite a while. I noticed that when Yellow Dog (the dog that got his tail pulled) was all better instead of leaving him he decided to stay with the dog and become a better person as well as getting three more dogs for Yellow Dog to play with, and all the dogs were one dog sled team. Even though he was supposed to stay away from the dog because the owner of the dog was very dangerous, he still went back every day to feed and care for the dog, and actually made friends with the owner. I thought that the boy wasn’t really the nicest person to be around before and during the dare but I realized after the dare and all the way throughout the book, he became a better person. I was actually quite surprised when the boy who hated dogs for the longest time changed, and even taught himself how to be a dog sled racer. But overall I really liked this book!"

"I really liked this book. It follows the main character named Jeremy. Jeremy makes friends with a yellow dog, and finds an unlikely friendship with the old man, who is his owner. The old man teaches him how to dogsled. However, when Jeremy tells his mother, she forbids him from going back to the old man. Jeremy keeps going back, and he meets other dogs who he attempts to train to be a dogsled team. The book was very heartwarming, and it has some very unexpected moments. I rate this book a ⅘."

"If I had to rate this book I would rate it a 3/5. When I read books I like them to grab my attention in the first chapter or I just get bored. My favourite part in Yellow Dog was when Jeremy found Lightning but he was hurt. My least favourite part was when Jeremy was dared to pull Acimosis tail and then he yelped. Overall, I would recommend this book to people who love to read a book about dogs."

"Yellow Dog was an AMAZING book about understanding and forgiveness. I would definitely give it a 5/5. It was a very sad and yet a happy book. This book had a lot about how people would dog sled and how they used to survive up north. I’d recommend this book to someone who likes/loves dog sledding or likes heartwarming and optimistic books. This book was long but it was very interesting and it had a great clincher."

"This book is about the north and dog sledding. I enjoyed this book although it was very long and used double spacing which made it hard to read. Also in Yellow Dog I learned a lot about dog sledding, I learned that most people use skidoo now because they are more effective and efficient. I would rate this book 4 out of 5. It is long and took me a long time to read. A thing that I didn't like about this book was that the author called a person in the book the old man and overused said. Yellow can also be very sad I some parts. I would recommend this book to people who like dogs. This story had a heartwarming ending a great clincher. I liked this book because was interesting and talked about dogs."
