Sea Change

"I really liked this book. It is about a boy named Eliot, who is sent away for the summer by his parents to a place in Nova Scotia called Point Aconi. His parents claim he'll love it, but Eliot is bent on the fact that he will have the worst summer ever. When he arrives he hates everything, but he makes friends and sees that maybe Point Aconi isn't so bad after all. This book was fun to read, but it also has some points where the words are scattered over the page and is difficult to read. I rate this book a ⅘."

"This book is about a boy named Eliot who has to go to Point Aconi for the summer. Eliot has to stay with his Uncle Earl. Eliot really doesn’t want to go but as soon as he was there for a while he didn’t ever want to leave. Some boys pick on Eliot but at least he makes 4 new friends, 3 boys and 1 girl. Eliot has to bring Happy everywhere (Happy is the dog). Eliot has to eat a whole bunch of different and weird food. I really liked this book so I will rate it 5/5. I liked this book because it has so much detail and it was nice and long but not too long and because he had so many adventures and I like how Frank Viva based it off of his memories from when he went."

"I originally thought this book was terrible, a little stuck up boy going to a place where everything was not to his high standards. When I read for a bit I found out that this book was actually very good and I really liked it. I would give this book a 4/5 because it had a slow start but turned out really good in the end. I liked how they had to deal with bullies and other terrible things as a group and that made them even better friends. Timmy, who was a bit slow also learned something when the main character said he was the smartest person he knows, he found out he was really smart, just in his own way. I loved how the author included all different types of characters and characteristics to the story. I recommend this book to everyone my age, I think we could all learn something from it."

"I thought that this book was great. First thing was that I loved that story and the ideas in this book. I thought that this was a great book and I enjoyed reading just about everything in this book. The main problem I had was that sometimes I didn't really like the art but other times I thought it gave the book some personality. I would have to give this book a ⅘ because I loved the story and some of the art but of course it could use some tweaks. I recommend this book to people who like stories about people's lives and to people who would like to read a good book. I really enjoyed this book and I think that everyone should try out this book."

"I loved this book because it was about adventures, planes, fishing on the Ynot boat (his Uncle’s boat), love and great friendships. I really liked the part about when Mary Beth and Elliott met because they were love at first sight. It was mostly about a boy named Elliot who I sometimes felt bad for because his parents sent him off to his Uncle Earl’s house in Point Aconi. He thought it would be a horrific summer until he meets a girl named Mary Beth, and they become great friends and then they start liking each other and they kiss. They become a couple but then he tells his Uncle Earl about how her dad is abusing her. I would recommend this book for people who like emotional books. It's sad that he has to go but when he gets there he loves it. I rate this book a 5/5 because I like books like this that keep you guessing and you really get to know the characters!"

"Sea Change is a very interesting cliffhanger kind of book. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 because I liked the book but it was not my favourite book. It had a lot of detail and did not repeat things over and over again. In this story I sometimes felt bad for Eliot because he had to make some hard decisions. At first Eliot did not want to go, but when he made some friends he had a lot of fun. I had a connection to when I did not want to play soccer but my mom made me play and now I love it. Overall, I really like this book and would recommend this to my classmates."
