Pride: Celebrating Diversity & Community

"This book was not my cup of tea. It didn’t draw my attention positively. I don’t find these types of books as interesting as other books I’ve read. If I were to rate this book, I would rate it a ⅕ just because I don’t really like books that talk about pride parades. I think that pride parades are great and I support them. I’m just not interested in these books. I would recommend this to somebody who finds interest in more serious topics. "

"Just after reading the book Pride, I realised how much discrimination that queer (lesbian/Gay) people face. It’s not so much in North America, but in Asia and Europe. This book takes an in depth look at 'pride parades', how gay/lesbian rights started, and how you can help. I, personally, would rate Pride a 4.7/5. The only thing that I don’t like about this book, is that in some spots, it goes on and on about one subject. This book is most certainly for my age group and older. This was a pretty good book, and more like them should exist."

"This book showed me it's okay to be different. Even if you're not gay or lesbian or transgender. It supports the entire world. It definitely makes a difference in the way I now think. Of course I always supported differences but I didn't realize what they have been through. I recommend this book to anyone as long as they are older than 10. The one thing I didn't like about this book was that it felt like I was reading the same thing over and over again. Although it was powerful some parts were boring. I give this book a ⅗."

"I don't really liked this book, really the only part I liked was how people are so confident about being LGBTQ. But it's not really a book I could get into. It's not fair how it's illegal for some people to be LGBTQ. They have pride festivals. I guess some people's parents don't accept them when they “Come out” . Drag queens are boys who dress up like “Barbie girls" . It's about the history and the future. If I had to rate this book I would rate it a ⅖ because I don't really like books I can't get into. I would recommend this book to people who want to come out to people but they can't? I guess? I'm not sure who would get into this book."

"This was a very interesting book. I love how this book talks equal rights. The book was mostly about gay pride. It would talk about how back in the day gay marriage was not allowed. If I was to rate this book it would be a ⅘ because it was so interesting. I would recommend this book to someone how likes to learn about the past. So far this is my favourite book."

"Pride is a book I would recommend it to this grade because it's a little much for a younger grade. It’s about how lgbtq’s have a hard time being themselves and the the march around the city that they live in. I would rate this book a 4-5 because it has some boring parts."

"This book was interesting but I did not really like it I would rate it an 3/5 because it was not really entertaining. This book is about LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer). I learned that there are many different ways to celebrate being gay. There are also drag queens and drag kings. I think that it was unfair that gay and lesbians were treated differently just because they liked the same sex. There are many different pride events that people go to even if they are not an LGBTQ. Though I did not love this book I would recommend this book to my classmates."

"I liked reading this book. It talks about why we should respect all of the members of our community, no matter who they are. It mainly focuses on lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people. It also has some things about racism and black people. It focuses on a lot of things. History, Different cultures, and many other things. I give this book a 5 out of 5. I loved it!"
