Everyday Hero

"After reading Everyday Hero, I don’t really have a lot to say. The concept of the book is amazing, and it is a bit of a heart warming story. Alice, the main character, is a thirteen year-old girl with Asperger syndrome. She is not normal, but she tries to cope with it. I would give this book a solid ⅘ because it kind of got annoying when it would say the same things over and over throughout the book. I would recommend this book to my age group, just because it might be a little hard to keep up with at some points. Everyday Hero is a one of a kind book, and I want many other people to read this."

"This book was ok, but after a while I lost interest. This book was about a girl called Alice who has Aspergers (Aspergers is a developmental disorder) and meets her new best friend Megan when she goes to detention. Megan is a troubled teen aged girl who seems is always in detention, and Alice really wants to help her if she would open up, while dealing with struggles of her own. I would rate this book 2/5."

"This book was amazing! It grabbed my attention right away. I found that I never wanted to stop reading it! I really liked how they used a real life problem and turned it into an interesting story. If I had to rate this book I would rate it a ⅘. It was such a heroic and heart warming story. I would recommend this book to someone who loves reading about real struggles."

"This was a pretty good book. It follows the main character Alice, who has the mental illness Asbergers. She and her father move, and Alice has to go to a new school. She doesn't have any friends, until she meets Megan. Megan is a troubled teenage girl, and all Alice wants to do is help, but Megan won't open up. Alice must figure out how to help Megan, while dealing with her own struggles at the same time. I rate this book a ⅗."

"This book is about a girl who has Aspergers and meets her new best friend in detention. The girl with Aspergers skipped gym because she can't stand smells, lots of noise, questions and chit chat so when she skipped gym, she got a detention, and in detention there was one other girl who was dressed in all black. This girl who was in all black didn’t really like the Aspergers girl yet because she just didn’t really like people. The girl with Aspergers kept coming to detention because she kept skipping gym. Everyday the two girls talked more and more. Sooner than later the two girls had sleepovers and became like best friends. The girl with Aspergers liked the girl in all black because she didn’t smell and she didn’t talk much and she understood her. The girl in all black liked the Aspergers girl because she was honest and she understood her and she wanted to even save the girl in all black. I definitely enjoyed this book because I never knew there was such thing as Aspergers and because this really amazing friendship between two totally different people happened. I would rate this book a 5/5 because I think it’s the best book I ever read."

"This book was interestng but was not a good book. I would reccommend this book to anyone who likes books about problems. I did not like how this book would not have many twists and I would just get bored. If I were to rate this book I would give it a 2/5. My favourite part would have to be when Alice realized that nobody is normal. Overall, I did not enjoy reading this book."

  1. Hi, this is Kathleen Cherry. Thank you so much for reading Everyday Hero and your thoughtful insights. I would have answered you sooner but i only just found you on the internet. Sometimes I still struggle with technology. Your insights were great and, Olive, you tuned into my greatest problem as a writer - trying to figure out the plot. My characters always come to me and then I struggle with the plot. I am so so glad that you are involved in reading and actively commenting. Thanks Kathleen
