5 Giraffes

"This book was very interesting. It had facts that were not known to me about giraffes. The book didn’t really have a clincher, but always had a great topic sentence. They defined words to make them easy to understand. I would rate this book a ⅘ because it would repeat itself several times and the captions on the photos didn’t really tell me anything. Though the photos themselves were marvelous, I wish that they made the book longer because I would really enjoy to learn more facts. Maybe if they had more sketches and diagrams then it would have been more self explanatory and they wouldn’t need the captions? I think that if they added more facts about the people behind the animals it would really be more enjoyable for me. My recommendation is that if you like books about animals and facts about them then 5 Giraffes is the book for you! Overall the book was very good and if I could I would definitely read it again if I could."

"This book wasn’t the best Red Cedar there was. I personally thought that it was informative but the author kept ranting about how poor giraffes are, humans are bad, we shouldn’t have zoos and we aren’t good for the environment. Don’t get me wrong, I know there are animals like giraffes in danger and I know it is partly our fault as the human race, but if we are going to save animals like giraffes, we need to act on our words, not just make useless noises. I would give this book a ⅖ because of the lack of interest it gives the reader. One problem about the book is that it only talks about how to help giraffes one or two sentences a chapter, the rest is about how poor they are to live in zoos and reserves. I do think the book could be interesting to someone who enjoys reading about endangered animals and species of the world, so I recommend this book to any of you that like these subjects. I do wonder still, what will it be like if giraffes do go extinct?"

"I found this book very informative. It talks about the science of giraffes, how they came to be and other things like their diet and habitat. I highly recommend this book to you if you like learning about animals. The book follows the words of the author Anne Innis Dagg, who gathers the science and research people have done on giraffes over the years. It is called Five Giraffes because the book has certain chapters which focus on one certain unique giraffe or type of giraffe. It talks a lot about the behavioural patterns of giraffes, and how they react and survive in a zoo environment."

"I thought this book was interesting. I never knew that much about giraffes until I read this book, I learned a bit more. Giraffes are pretty interesting in my opinion. The book is a decent size. I have always wanted to see a skeleton of a giraffe, now I have and it looks really, really cool. Their diet is very interesting; their diets are different in captivity than in the wild. All the giraffes in this book I thought were interesting. I rate this book 3 out 5."

"5 Giraffes is a very interesting informative story. It is mostly about saving endangered giraffes. Also, this book has tons of information about giraffes in captivity. I enjoyed this book a lot. I would rate this book 4/5 because it was an ok length and most of the time it kept you interested in the topic. Sometimes I felt this book used too many words to talk about the same topic. At the back of the book I appreciated  the author put glossary because some of the words were hard to understand. I learned a lot about giraffes being unadapted to live in cold climates. I think the illustrator of 5 Giraffes picked pictures the cooperated with what the chapter was talking about. 5 Giraffes was charitable to giraffes, I really enjoyed this book."

"This book is about Giraffes. Personally, I did not like the book too much. It had a lot of mature content. I give this book a 2 ½ out of 5 because it was a bit too long and did not catch my attention. The book did not make too much sense either because it only talked about 3 types of giraffes and talked about the other 2 at the same time and did not tell you which is which. I would recommend this book for Grade 7 and up. Giraffes is not my favourite book."
